Being a Gen Z with a screen time of 12 hours, I don’t really think about how the things that I spend 12 hours on everyday are entirely driven by numbers. I’ve deluded myself into believing that mp3 files contain songs and jpg files contain snapshots of places. 

But numbers are really fragile.  Pushing them a little out of place destroys the illusion that numbers can recreate aspects of real life and forces you to face the cold machine in front of you.

There is a song called Reconstruction Site by the Weakerthans.  I took every pair of letters in "Reconstruction Site,” turned them into numbers, and deleted the numbers from the raw hexadecimal data of the audio file.  I did the same for the album cover.  I call this new piece Deconstruction Site.
